Anita Marie Turpin, 62, passed away peacefully at home on March 5, 2017. She was a member at First Baptist Church, Francis and Collins Street, where she served as an usher and sang in the Adult Choir.
She began her career at Kroger as a cashier, and retired as a manager of the front end after more than 40 years of service. She was highly appreciated by the customers and coworkers for her infectious smile, outgoing, helpful, and positive attitude. After retirement, she volunteered at McCready Manor. She loved to travel and read. She will be greatly missed by her family, friends, and all who knew her.
She is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 45 years, Henry Turpin, daughter Vanessa Turpin, son Michael (Jennifer) Turpin, and four grandchildren Dylan, Lexi, Marisa, and Maddie. She is also survived by: two sisters, Trina Fields and Donetta Burton; a brother, Duane Fields; sisters-in-law, Zelma Baker, Pat Turpin and Effie Fields; brother-in-law, Aiken Turpin; four nieces, two nephews, six great nieces, six great nephews, aunts, uncles and a host of cousins. She is preceded in death by her parents, Donald and Ann Fields and brother, Kevin Fields.
Funeral service will be at First Baptist Church, Francis and Collins Street at 1 p.m. Visitation will start at 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on March 10, 2017, at the church.
