Belva's Story

Belva Elizabeth Wilson Smith, 81, the widow of Millard Smith, passed away Sunday, December 25, 2016 at The Terrace in Berea.
Mrs. Smith was born on September 30, 1935 in Whitley County, Kentucky, the daughter of the late William Riley and Stella Jones Wilson. She was a retired employee of Cowdan Manufacturing, and was a member of The Bethlehem Baptist Church at Dreyfus.
Survivors include: one daughter, Peggy Howard of Berea; two sons, Thomas M. Smith (Mary) of Lily, Kentucky, and Jimmy Smith (Nora Jean) of Evarts, Kentucky; one sister, Nora Ellen Jones; five grandchildren, Jamey M. Smith, Jessica Marie Curry, J.R. Smith Jr. (Ashley), William Riley Howard and Susan Lynette Howard; eight great-grandchildren as well as several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by: a grandson, Jerry Wayne Smith, her step-mother, Florence Wilson; six sisters, Pearly Effie Wilson, Alma Lee Wilson, Norma Jean Wilson, Joyce Ann Wilson, Opal Rose and Olenial Croley; five brothers, Cecil Edward Wilson, Melvin Wilson Jr., Otis Eugene Wilson, Elmer Ray Wilson and Kenneth Ray Wilson.
Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, December 28, 2016, at the Combs, Parsons & Collins Funeral Home with Dr. Neal Prather officiating. Burial will follow at Madison Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be from 5-9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
