Betsy's Story

Mrs. Betsy Shearer Wiseman, 92, of Richmond, passed away on Thursday, June 1, 2017, at her home surrounded by her family.
Mrs. Wiseman was born on May 6, 1925, in Madison County to the late Ben and Mary Moore Shearer. She was retired from Eastern Kentucky University having worked for many years as a cashier in the bookstore. She enjoyed watching sports, especially girls softball and UK Basketball. She was a member of the Baptist Faith.
She is survived by: her son, Greg Wiseman (Maureen); two grandchildren, Brooke Wiseman (Fiancé Matt Randall) and Cody Wiseman; her dog, Cal; a special friend, Peggy Ochs; two caregivers, Linda Sizemore and Carol Hacker; as well as a host of extended family and friends.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by: one brother, Sherman Shearer; and four sisters, Lucy Rupard, Elsie Shearer, Fannie VanArsdale, and Addie Jenkins.
Funeral service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Tuesday, June 6, 2017, at the Combs, Parsons & Collins Funeral Home, W. Main St., Richmond, with Johny Collins officiating. Burial will follow at the Madison County Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be after 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be: Cody Wiseman, John Shearer, John Chris Shearer, Justin Woosley, Matt Randall, and Gary Booth.
The Combs, Parsons & Collins Funeral Home, 328 W. Main St. Richmond, is in charge of the arrangements.
