Carl's Story

Carl Jerome Tackett, Sr., 76 of Georgetown, formerly of Richmond, passed away Thursday, November 10, 2016, at the Georgetown Community Hospital.
He was born at Silver Creek in Madison County to Elba and Dulcie Miller Tackett, both of whom preceded him in death. Carl was a farmer and a 37-year retiree of R. J. Reynolds Tobacco Company, having worked in Lexington and Winston-Salem North Carolina. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam Era and a member of the Rockcastle Saddle Club.
Survivors include: his loving wife of 55 years, Mary E. Couch Tackett of Georgetown; one daughter, Lisa Conley (Michael A.) of Richmond; one son, Carl "CJ" Tackett, Jr. (Aimee) of Lexington; two sisters, Helen Antle and Angie Goss (Paul) both of Lexington; three grandchildren, Cody, Cory, and Skylar, and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five brothers, Leslie, Harold, Gene, Glenmore, and James Tackett.
Funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday, November 13, 2016, at Oldham, Roberts & Powell Funeral Home, Richmond, with Carl J. Tackett, Jr. as Celebrant.
Burial will follow in the Flatwoods Cemetery at Waco.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until service time on Sunday at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Carl J. Tackett, Jr., Mike Conley, Cody Conley, Cory Conley, Gary Stanfield and Harry Stanfield.
