Charles "Charlie"'s Story
Charles 'Charlie' Earnest Denny, 74, of Richmond, passed away on Sunday, September 10, 2017.
He was born on June 27, 1943, in Kirksville to the late William Ballard Denny, Sr and Grace Lovett Denny. Charlie was a heavy equipment operator for more than thirty years, working for Jerome Tudor. He was an employee for the City of Richmond, Gibson Bay Maintenance for more than 15 years. Charlie was well known for his gift of operating a piece of equipment, no matter what kind.
He always raised a big garden, and gave it away to friends. He will always be remembered for his laugh, he loved talking to people and making friends.
He is survived by his wife of forty years Elizabeth "Liz' Short Denny, Richmond, and a daughter; Katherine 'Katie' Denny Rhodus (Merwyn), one son; Gene Franklin Denny (Christie), two granddaughters; Macey Lee Rhodus and Peyton Riley Rhodus and a grandson Charles 'Chuckie' Edward Denny; his sister; Gladys Pryse, of Jessamine County. Several nieces and nephews including; Butch McKinney, Richmond and Ann Benge, Eubank.
He was preceded in death by his son Earnest Wayne Denny, his grandson Logan Gene Denny, his brothers William ' Junior' Ballard Denny, Jr., John Franklin Denny, and his sister Rosa Lee Denny McBride.
Funeral Services will be conducted at 10:00 AM Thursday, September 14, 2017, at the Combs, Parsons & Collins Funeral Home, W. Main St., Richmond, with Bro. Tim Jones officiating. Burial will follow in the Flatwoods Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5-8 PM Wednesday, at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Butch McKinney, William McKinney, Marshall Robinson, Bill Short, Will Short and Merwyn Rhodus.
Honorary pallbearers: Wink Starnes, Billy Rogers, Jerome Tudor, Charlie Prather, Jud Patterson and his McDonald's Coffee Buddies.
