Charles's Story

Charles Clayton Charlie Moore, 101, passed away Thursday, January 18, 2018, at Baptist Health Richmond.

Born February 21, 1916 at Drip Rock, Kentucky, in Jackson County, he was the son of John Alden and Elizabeth Sparks Moore, both of whom preceded him in death. Charles was a retired machine operator for Automotive Gears in Richmond, Indiana, and served as the manager of the E. C. Million Park, which he helped to develop, for 13 years before retiring. Charles was the former Chairman of the (Original) Board of Directors of E. C. Million Park.

He had served in the Kentucky National Guard and was an Army veteran of WWII and had served 27 months in the Burma, India Theatre. Chares was a Kentucky Colonel and an avid UK sports fan.

Charles was preceded in death by his wife, Pauline Mullikin Moore, and is survived by two sons, Charles Kirby Moore (Lelia) of Indianapolis, IN, and Paul Clayton Moore (Jennifer) of Simpsonville, SC; one son-in-law, Richard Bradt of St. Peters, MO; six grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by one daughter, Paula Dawn Bradt, four sisters, and five brothers.

Funeral service for Charles C. Moore will be 11:00 AM Monday, January 22, 2018 at Oldham, Roberts & Powell Funeral Home with Rev. Jerry Huffman officiating. Burial will follow at the Richmond Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1 5 PM Sunday at the funeral home.
