Charles Kenneth Tudor

Charles Kenneth Tudor, 90, passed away Friday, May 12, 2017, with his family by his side, following a long battle with Parkinson's.
Ken was born August 10, 1926, at the home of his grandfather Socrates Johnson in the Brassfield Community of Madison County. He grew up in Eastern Kentucky with his parents while his father worked on the L&N Railroad. After graduating from Hazard High School in 1943, Ken joined the Army Air Corps earning a commission as a Second Lieutenant. He trained as a navigator on C-47s and B-17s. After WWII, Ken served in the USAF reserve rising to the rank of captain. After attending Eastern Kentucky University in 1946-1947, he went to the University of Kentucky where he joined the Kappa Alpha Fraternity and graduated from the university with a Bachelor of Science in mining engineering. Ken worked 14 years in the mining industry all over the United States and in South Vietnam. In 1964, he bought Pyle Engineering in Newport News, Virginia changing the name to C.K. Tudor Engineers.
In addition to his parents Marian Scottie Johnson and Price Collier Tudor, he was preceded in death by his brother, William Thomas Tudor, who was killed in combat in the Philippines in January 1945, and his son, Ralph Benton Tudor, who passed on March 30, 2017.
Ken is survived by his wife, Sandra L. Tudor, and her children, Carl Adams and Tina George. He also leaves behind his son, Charles W. Tudor and wife, Catherine of Greenville, N.C.; son, Guy C. Tudor and wife, Carolyn of Weyers Cave, Va.; son, Blaine E. Tudor and wife, Heather of Virginia Beach, Va.; seven grandchildren, three great grandchildren and several cousins in Kentucky.
Graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 20, 2017, at the Richmond Cemetery.
