Col. Edward Abram Hatch


Col. Edward Abram Hatch (US Army Ret), 80, of Richmond, passed away Thursday, May 23, 2019, at his home.

Col. Hatch was born September 23, 1938, at Salt Lake City, Utah and was the son of Alden Ottinger Hatch and Verda Ruby Evans Hatch, both of whom preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Vergie Gaskin Hatch; a son, James Scott Hatch; a sister, Verda Margene Hatch Jett, and a brother Wayne Ottinger "Bud" Hatch.

Col. Hatch retired from the U. S. Army, with 22 years of service, where he served as a General Dentistry Officer, and he was a highly decorated veteran of the Vietnam War. After retiring from the U S Army, he began his own dental clinic in Richmond, Kentucky, from which he retired a second time. He was an active member of Grace Point Church of Richmond, Kentucky.

He is survived by two daughters, Julie Ann Hatch Myers and Betty Lynn Hatch Gillett (Jim); six grandchildren, Meredith Myers, Tyler Myers (Becky), Zachary Myers, Rebekah Hatch, Ryan Jacob and Jeffrey Jacob; one step-grandson, Cory Gillett, and two great-grandchildren, William Myers and Audrey Myers.

Other survivors include one brother, Alden Evans Hatch and a daughter-in-law, Cheryl.

Funeral services for Col. Hatch will be held at 1:00 PM Wednesday, May 29, 2019, at Oldham, Roberts & Powell Funeral Home, with Pastor Tony Christian officiating. Burial will follow in the Richmond Cemetery with military honors.

Visitation will be from 11 AM until service time at 1:00 PM on Wednesday at Oldham, Roberts & Powell.
