Mrs. Doris Jean Carter York, 64, of Richmond, passed away unexpectedly Monday, January 9, 2017, at Baptist Health - Richmond.
Mrs. York was born in Hazard, Kentucky, on March 21, 1952. She was a homemaker who enjoyed cooking and sewing. She was a servant hearted person who loved everyone and never met a strange. She especially enjoyed attending church. Her family, certainly her grandchildren and great grandchildren, was the delight of her life. She also loved her dogs.
On May 14, 1993, Doris united in marriage to Robert "Bud" York who survives.
Mrs. York is also survived by: four sons, Robert Douglas "Doug" York and wife Darlene of Franklin, Va., Carl Dwayne York and Elmer Lovett, Jr. and wife Natalie, all of Richmond, and Terry Lovett and wife Kimberly of Berea; ten grandchildren, Jeremy York and wife Bri, Amie York, Thomas Cahoon, Jr., Mea Cahoon, Justin Temple, Jaiden Temple, Gregory Chase Lovett, Travis Austin Lovett, Kamryn Lovett and Lauren Marshall; and four great-grandchildren, Brayden York, Marlie York, Elijah Cahoon and Gavin Lovett.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Elma Carter Howard.
Funeral service will be conducted at 7 p.m. Friday, January 13, 2017, at Combs, Parsons & Collins Funeral Home with Bro. Ricky Horn officiating. Burial will be 10 a.m. Saturday in the Richmond Cemetery.
Visitation will be after 5 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Steve York, Kamryn Lovett, Jeremy York, David Bolton, Greg Lovett and Travis Lovett.
