Doug Tussey

Doug Tussey Edward Douglas Tussey, 76, passed away Wednesday, October 24, 2018, at his home in Round Hill, Ky.

He was born on October 22, 1942, in Richmond, Ky. and was the son of the late Coleman Clay and Ruth (Ledford) Tussey and brother of the late Charles Logan Chogie Tussey. He was a member of Kirksville Baptist Church. Doug also served on the Board of Directors for the Kirksville Fire Department, as well as, Honorary Mayor of Kirksville on Kirksville Days.

He was a veteran of the Kentucky National Guard for six years. Doug graduated from Madison Central High School and Central Vocational School in Lexington, Ky.

He started his career as a tool and die maker at the Square D Company. He managed the tool and die department at Standard Products and Johnson Controls. Doug was the founder of Madison Tool & Die, Inc. and Richmond Steel. After retirement, Doug, and his wife, Susie, owned and operated Tussey s Round Hill General Store.

Doug enjoyed fishing, golfing, farming, and spending time with his family. Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Susie (Kirby) Tussey; his daughter, Jennifer Tussey Ulmer (Dave); his grandsons, William David Will Ulmer, III, and Wyatt Douglas Ulmer; four brothers, Ernest Hayes Tussey (Vicky), Clay Richmond Tussey, Robert Ledford Tussey (Ross Ann) and Stephen Coy Tussey (Cathi); sisters-in-law, Libby Kirby Tipton and Janie Sowers Tussey; several nieces and nephews and many cousins.

Funeral service for Doug will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, October 27, 2018 at Kirksville Baptist Church, 542 Kirksville Road, with Reverends Johnathan Tussey, Ronnie Butch Pennington and Dennis Hisel officiating. Burial will follow in the Richmond Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 9 PM Friday at the church.

Pallbearers will be his brothers, his brother-in-law, Bill Kirby and nephew, Tony Tipton.

Honorary bearers will be Jimmy Lynch, Ray Rose, Gary Rose, and all of his friends at the Round Hill Store.

The family would like to thank special cousins, Jimmy and Dolly Lynch and the staff of Hospice Care Plus.
