Edna's Story

Edna Mae (Robinson) Newman, 85, of Richmond, the widow of William Newman, passed away Wednesday, February 7, 2018 at the Hospice Compassionate Care Center of Richmond.

Born in Madison County on April 25, 1932, she was the daughter of the late Leonard H. and Rosetta (Hutchens) Robinson. Edna was a homemaker and a member of Viney Fork Baptist Church. During her lifetime, she enjoyed volunteering as a room-mother during her children's elementary school years and as a Den Mother with the Cub Scouts for her sons. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother who loved being with her family.

Survivors include one daughter, Donna Masters (Tony; three sons, William "Willie" Newman (Caroline), Rob Newman (Wanda) and Brian Newman (Suzy); three brothers, Johnny, Hubert, and Richard Robinson ; three sisters, Ona French, Mary Ruth Babb, and Gladys Muncie; eight grandchildren, Brandy Winkler (Alfred), Randy Newman (Amy), Adam Griggs (Allison), Kristi Edwards (Ben), Travis Newman (Sherry), Casey McKean (Chris), Tyler Newman (Megan) and Becky Newman; great-grandchildren, Hunter & Fisher Winkler, Peyton & Henry Logan Griggs, Carter Newman and Caroline Harper Edwards, Georgia Edwards, Mason Curtis Newman, Arlo Jeffry Newman; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

She was also preceded in death by two sisters, Anna Katherine Newman and Mona Louise Robinson and three brothers, Walter, William H. and Robert Clayton Robinson.

Funeral service for Edna Newman will be held at 2:00 PM Friday, February 9, 2018, at Oldham, Roberts & Powell Funeral Home with Rev. Tim Jones officiating. Burial will follow in the Flatwoods Cemetery. Visitation will be from 12:00 PM until service time at Oldham, Roberts & Powell.

Pallbearers will be Randy Newman, Adam Griggs, Travis Newman, Chris McKean, Tyler Newman, Alfred Winkler and Ben Edwards.
