Mrs. Emma Frances Burton Abshear, 72, of Richmond, passed away on Monday, August 28, 2017, at the Hospice Compassionate Care Center.
She was born on November 9, 1944, in Madison County to the late John H. and Cora Alice Story Burton. She was a loving mother and friend to all who knew her. She enjoyed watching WLJC, listing to Elvis music and spending time with her little dog Whitey. She was a member of the Richmond House of Prayer.
Survivors include: her daughters, Nancy Lee Sparks (Daryell), and Emma Lou Lewis (Frank Agee); one sister, Gladys Brown (Fred); six grandchildren, William Sparks (Amy), Christy McPherson (Denny), Joshua Scott Horn, Elizabeth Horn, Matthew Lewis, and Caleb Agee; six great-grandchildren, Jacob Sparks, Mackenzie Sparks, Jaelynn Sparks, Madison Sparks, Morgan Sparks and Noah Shear; as well as a host of other family and friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, William Bill Abshear; two daughters, Flora Alice Abshear, and Mary Ann Horn; and one sister, Della Mae Bailey.
Funeral Services will be conducted at 1:00 PM Friday, September 1, 2017, at the Combs, Parsons & Collins Funeral Home. W. Main St., Richmond, with Bro. Owen Moody officiating. Burial will follow in the Richmond Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5-9 PM Thursday, at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be: William Sparks, Jacob Sparks, Matthew Lewis, Denny McPherson, Kevin Collier, Allen Edwards, Jimmy Taylor and Cody Hisle.
Honorary Pallbearers will be: Caleb Agee, Morgan Sparks, Jaelynn Sparks, Madison Sparks, Mackenzie Sparks, John Sparks, Buddy Biggs and James Biggs.
