Frances Wall Lanter, 95, Granny Lanter, of Union City, the widow of Clifford Lanter, passed away on Wednesday, February 7, 2018, at the Hospice Compassionate Care Center.
Frances, daughter of the late Clyde and Maude Baker Wall, was born in Madison County, on February 4, 1923. She was a retired employee of the Madison County School System, having served in the cafeteria at Madison Central High School. She was a member of the Union City Christian Church.
Survivors include her daughter: Linda Spurlock Cates (Danny) of Paint Lick; three grandchildren: Billy Spurlock (Sheri) of Moreland, Georgia, Jenny Spurlock and Aaron Lanter (Lonna) both of Kirksville; seven great-grandchildren; daughter-in-law: Connie Lanter; one brother: Bradley Wall (Opal) of Winchester and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a son: John Wayne Lanter; a son-in-law: Bill Spurlock; three brothers and two sisters.
Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 PM Saturday, February 10, 2018 at the Combs, Parsons & Collins Funeral Home with Bro. Tim Jones officiating. Burial will follow in the Richmond Cemetery.
The family will receive friends beginning at 11:00 AM Saturday at the funeral home.
Serving as pallbearers are: Billy Spurlock, Aaron Lanter, Cade Spurlock, Garrett Wickersham, A. J. Lanter, Curtis Tate, Darrell Tate, Carl Hoover and Frenus Masters Jr.

The family would like to extend their appreciation to staff of Berea Health Care, for the love and attention given to Granny over the past three years and also to The Compassionate Care Center.
