Frances's Story

Frances Carlene (Caldwell) Livingood passed from this life into the presence of her Redeemer, Jesus Christ, on Friday, October 13, 2017 where she is more alive now than ever before.

Carlene had battled valiantly by faith against multiple sclerosis for many years, and more recently with heart issues.

Carlene had just celebrated 56 years of marriage with her husband Fred, and had stood beside him in the gospel ministry as a faithful pastors wife for over 50 years, where she herself had loved and ministered to so many even while dealing with personal suffering. . . she was a wounded healer. Carlene worked faithfully with ACTEENS, GAs (Girls in Action), and the WMU (Womens Missionary Union) within the Southern Baptist denomination. She also served as secretary for the Tates Creek Baptist Association in the early 1970s.

In her thirties, Carlene went to nursing school, receiving a nursing degree at Eastern Kentucky University, and began her nursing career at the Pattie A. Clay Hospital in Richmond, KY. Carlene then worked as Occupational and Health Safety Nurse at Sherwin-Williams, and then served as nurse and nursing director at Hospice where she ministered to dying patients and their families until she herself was physically unable to do so. To Carlene, nursing was not just a career, but a ministry.

Carlene was born in Pendleton County and raised in Grant County, KY, by the late Elbert and Roberta Caldwell alongside fifteen brothers and sisters that she loved dearly.

Carlene is survived by: her husband, Fred Livingood; two children, Sheri (Jeff) Rogers, of Richmond, KY, and Allen (Paula) Livingood, of Berea, KY; four grandchildren, Heather (Zack) Pennington, of Richmond, Cameron Rogers, of Richmond; Trey and Tori Livingood, of Berea; two great-grandchildren, Allison and Madison Pennington of Richmond; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A service to remember her life and celebrate her faith will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, October 16, 2017 at Crittenden Baptist Church, 215 Russell Dr., Crittenden, KY 41030, with Bro. Allen Livingood officiating. Burial will follow in the Crittenden Cemetery in Grant County.

Her grandkids and nephews will serve as active pallbearers, and her brothers will serve as honorary pallbearers.

Visitation will be from 5:00 9:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 15, 2017 at Westside Baptist Church, in Berea, KY

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are suggested to Gideons International, P.O. Box 541, Richmond, KY 40475.
