Fred Douglas "Doug" Warner, 78, passed away December 18, 2016. He was preceded in death by his wife, Norma Dean Warner, in 2012.
Doug was born June 17, 1938, in Richmond and was the son of Fred Coleman Warner and Juanita Moberly Anderson, both of whom preceded him in death. He had served his country in the U.S. Air Force. Doug was retired from Westinghouse/Phillips Lighting and was a member of Big Hill Christian Church. He was a retired CCDW instructor and an avid shooter, and was well-known for repairing antique clocks.
Survivors include: two sons, Randy Warner (Nina) of Lexington, and Rick Warner (Brandy) of Richmond; his stepfather, Lawrence Joseph Anderson of Richmond; two grandchildren, Matthew Warner of Lexington, and Megan Mattingly (Kenneth) of Louisville; one brother, Wendell Warner (Shirley) of Richmond; one aunt, Avis Moberly; one uncle, Sterling Moberly; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Funeral service for Doug will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, January 27, 2017, at Oldham, Roberts & Powell Funeral Home with Pastor Jim Riggs officiating. Burial will follow in the Richmond Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, January 26, 2017, at Oldham, Roberts & Powell.
Pallbearers will be Johnny Mathews, Arlin "Burr" Tipton, Toney Allen, Les Moore, Steve Weaver, and Danny Estes. Honorary pallbearers will be his Big Hill Christian Church pew group: Mary Ellen Broaddus, Peggy Mason, Vickie Erwin, Derwood Norris, Marjorie Long, and Joyce Kearns.
