George Edward Gordon, 90, passed away on Sunday, February 11, 2018 at the Compassionate Care Center in Richmond surrounded by his family.

George was born on January 18, 1928 in Danville, Kentucky, and was the son of George Purdom and Lillie Martin Gordon, both of whom preceded him in death. George was most proud of serving his Lord and community as a member of the Newby Baptist Church as well as a long-time member of Calvary Baptist Church and Trinity Missionary Baptist Church.
He was drafted into the Army in WWII and served in the Pacific Theatre. After the war he served in the Kentucky National Guard for over 30 years where he attained the rank of Command Sergeant Major with the 103rd Service & Supply Battalion in Richmond, KY.

Survivors include: his wife, Wanda Jean Smoot Gordon, of Richmond; two sons, Bruce Edward (Lisa) Gordon and Glenn Curtis (Donna) Gordon; one daughter, Diana Carol Gordon; one sister, Nevelyn Foley, of Lexington, KY; four grandchildren, Allison (Joey) Davis, Edward Curtis (Brittany) Gordon, Justin (Natalie) Gordon, Joey (Jessica) Marking; and eight great grandchildren Jayda Davis, Jacob Gordon, Julia Gordon, Kinsey Gordon, Ethan Marking, Sarah Marking, Angela Gordon, and Joshua Gordon.

Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday February 14, 2018 at the Oldham, Roberts & Powell Funeral Home, with Bro. Scott Guiley officiating. Private family burial will be later in the Camp Nelson National Cemetery. Honorary pallbearers are Joey Davis, Edward Curtis Gordon, Justin Gordon, and Joey Marking.

Visitation will be from 5:00 P.M.-8:00 P.M. Tuesday February 13, 2018 at the Oldham, Roberts & Powell Funeral Home
