Gertrude's Story

Gertrude "Gertie" Ingle Lewis, 87, widow of Harold Lewis, passed away Wednesday, November 30, 2016, at the University of Kentucky Medical Center, after a short illness. Mrs. Lewis was born September 16, 1929, in Garrard County, a daughter of the late Joe and Minnie Pingleton Ingle.
She was a homemaker who enjoyed gardening, cooking, working with her flowers, and spending time with her family. She was a member of the Richmond House of Prayer. She was also preceded in death by her sisters, Ruby Irene Hounshell and Stella Mae Akers. Survivors include: her son, Terry Lewis; her daughters, Ruby (Carl B) Smith, Carol (Manford) Tipton and Sandra Dargavell (Greg Dargavell); her grandchildren, Jennifer Tipton, Tiffany (Jesse Mullins) Dargavell, Buster (Mandy) Dargavell, Brandy Lewis Daniels, Chris (Alicia) Lewis, Brittany Dargavell and Allan Dargavell; nine (plus two on the way) great-grandchildren; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, December 2, 2016, at the Heritage Funeral Home, with Bro. Owen Moody officiating. Burial will follow in the Manse Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Jesse Mullins, Buster Dargavell, Allan Dargavell, Greg Dargavell, Kevin Saylor; honorary pallbearers will be Tiffany Dargavell, Jennifer Tipton, Brandy Lewis Daniels, Chris Lewis, Brittany Dargavell, and Larry Saylor.
