Gladys Marie Goodlett Reams was born on November 17, 1922 in Madison County, KY to George E. Goodlett and Bessie Prewitt Goodlett. She was the second of seven children. She departed this life at age 95, on March 3, 2018 at the Hospice Compassionate Care Center in Richmond, KY.
Gladys was wed to Raymond M. Reams on February 1, 1945 and they were married for 69 years. He preceded her in death. Also preceding her in death are both parents; and four siblings, Dorothy Miller-Fisher, George Goodlett, Elwood Goodlett and Buddy Goodlett. She is survived by two brothers, Nelson Goodlett, of Xenia, OH and Jimmy Goodlett, of Richmond; three daughters, Becky Summers and Chuck, of Birmingham, AL, Dotti Baker and Darris, of Forsyth, GA, and Lisa Reams of Berea; nine grandchildren, Daniel, Samuel, Naomi, Mercy, Dorcus, Isaiah, Miriam, Chris and Amanda; ten great-grandchildren; a host of nieces and nephews and sisters-in-law.
Gladys and Raymond lived in Ft. Walton Beach, Florida for 55 years. They moved back to Richmond, KY in 2010. Gladys was a devoted Christian and member of Cinco Baptist Church in Ft. Walton Beach, FL for many years. She loved teaching Sunday school classes and studying her Bible. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, working in her flower beds, doing jigsaw puzzles, reading, and visiting with family and friends. She was especially proud to be the mother of her three daughters.
Gladys spent her last seven years as a resident of McCready Manor in Richmond. She reacquainted herself with several childhood friends and made many new friends among the residents, as well as among the staff members. She will be missed by all who knew her.
Funeral Services will be conducted at 1:30 PM Thursday, March 8, 2017 at Combs, Parsons & Collins Funeral Home with Rev. Darris Baker officiating. Burial will follow in the Richmond Cemetery.
