Gordon A. Sowers, 73, husband of Norma Katheryn Williams Sowers, Richmond, passed away on Wednesday, Nov. 22, 2017 at Baptist Health Richmond. He was born August 20, 1944 in Richmond, KY to the late Seth Gordon and Barbara Lucille Ballinger. Gordon was a Pastor at Faith Created Assembly of God for over 33 years.
He is survived by his wife Norma Katheryn and three sons: Patrick (Debra) Sowers of Greensboro, NC; Douglas K. Sowers both of Richmond, KY; a grandson: Branden S. (Hilary) Coomer of Eastaboga, AL and two great grandchildren: Riley and Caden.
One word that best describes Gordon would be "Generous". He truly believed in the gift of giving. If you were with Gordon very long he would always give you something. He would always say, " He wanted to plant a seed into your life". He truly believed the Lord's command of "Go ye into all the world and preach the gospel". His heartbeat was for people and for missions around the world. A few of his mission endeavors: church plants in Peru, water wells in Africa, house churches in Cuba, multiple Teen Challenge Centers, multiple crusades in India and Africa and a heart for Speed The Light. His passion for people and for souls and the sharing of the gospel never seemed to fade. He loved the Lord and his family with all his heart. He was a Husband, Father, Grandfather, Brother, Uncle and Friend as well as a Pastor to many.
