Mrs. Gypsie Lee Cosby Jones, 90, of Marysville, Ohio, formerly of the Baldwin Community of Madison County, passed away Friday, October 27, 2017, at Brookdale Senior Living in Marysville.
Mrs. Jones, the daughter of the late Wingfield Cosby and Deloris Witt Cosby, was born in Madison County on April 26, 1927. She was a member of the historic Tates Creek Baptist Church, as well as, the Kentucky Heritage Council, Civil War Roundtable and Madison County Historical Society. She authored the book entitled Reflections in the Wind. As a homemaker, she enjoyed writing, reading, decorating her house and studying history.
On January 11, 1945, Mrs. Jones united in marriage to Jerry H. Jones who preceded her in death in 1999.
Survivors include: her daughter, Janey Lee Jones West of Richmond; her granddaughter, Bethany West Smith; great grandchildren, Ella Beth Smith and Anderson Cole Smith and other family members and many friends.
She was also preceded in death by: her sister, Nancy Ballard Cosby; and her brothers, Charles Cosby, Homer Cosby and Oliver Cosby.
Funeral Services will be conducted at 4 p.m. Wednesday, November 1, 2017, at Bethel Christian Church, 376 Baldwin Rd, Richmond with Rev. Dr. Russell R. Rechenbach and Dr. Jerry Huffman officiating. Burial will follow in the Jones-Perkins Cemetery in Baldwin.
Visitation will be after 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at the church.
Pallbearers will be Curtis Bogie, Vince Baldwin, Joshua Anderson Baldwin Jones, Larry Jones, Ricky Azbil, Kevin Azbil, T. C. Bogie, Bryan Bogie, Ronnie Burrus, Garnett Isbell and Wayne Perkins.
Honorary Pallbearers will be William H. Baldwin, David and Kay Jones, Sharon Cosby, Lynda Chase, Ginni Fair, Effie Burrus, Brenda Bogie, Robert and Janis Day, Myra Isbell, Nelda Smith, Paula Jones and Donna Jones Seale.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are requested on behalf of Team Evan, for a high school student of Bethany Smith who has had recent surgery for cancer.
