James Billy Gear, 64, passed away on Friday, November 3, 2017 at the University of Kentucky Medical Center in Lexington.
Billy was born on February 7, 1953 and was the son of William Gear and Frances Kindred, both of whom preceded him in death. He was raised by his maternal grandparents, Malcolm and Myrtle Murphy. During Vietnam, Billy served in the U.S. Air Force, from which he also retired. Later he drove a commercial truck. He was a member of the American Legion and Gloryland Baptist Church. He was also a member of the Kingston Masonic Lodge.
Survivors include: his wife, Carolyn Gear of Berea, KY; his son, Kevin Mattias Gear Reinhardt (Shawn Barnes), of Nicholasville, KY; one brother, Jason Webster; one brother-in-law, Fred Reinhardt; three aunts; three uncles; and several cousins, nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Sigrid Reinhardt Gear.
Funeral services for Billy Gear will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, November 9, 2017 at Oldham, Roberts & Powell Funeral Home with Bro. Cecil Burns officiating. Burial will be in Camp Nelson National Cemetery in Nicholasville, KY.
Pallbearers will be Chris Johnson, Ricky Johnson, Frank Ward, Jason Webster, Roger Rose and Isaac Hickman. Visitation will be from 5:00- 9:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 8, 2017 at Oldham, Roberts & Powell.
