Jesse Paul (J.P.) Bishop, 82, passed away Monday, November 7, 2016, at the Indian River Center in West Melbourne, Florida. He was born in Owsley County on August 2, 1934, son of the late Scott and Bertha Bishop. He retired from Square D-Schneider Electric in 1997 after 30 years of service and moved to Brevard County, Florida. He was a member of the Big Hill Avenue Christian Church where he served as a Deacon.
He is survived by: his loving wife, Thelma C. Bishop of Florida; daughter, Melinda K. Bishop of Florida; three brothers, Scott Bishop (Kay), Ellis Bishop (Jean) and Bill Bishop (Lola Faye); and sister, Betty Bowling; as well as many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by: brothers, McHenry Bishop, Langley Bishop and Matthew Bishop; and sister, Jeanette Rose.
A memorial service will be held at 5 p.m. Tuesday, November 22, 2016, with visitation starting 4 p.m. at Big Hill Christian Church, Richmond. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Big Hill Christian Church or the Alzheimer's Association.
