Jo Ann's Story
Jo Ann Safreed Morris, 78, wife of James A. Morris, passed away February 17, 2018, after a long illness at Central Baptist Hospital surrounded by her family. She was born April 24, 1939 in Covington, KY, to the late Bert and Alda Safreed.
In addition to her husband of 58 years, she is survived by her daughter, Mary Carole Highlander (Brian), and two granddaughters, Brittany and Ashley Highlander. She is also survived by a sister, Mary Lou Kordenbrock, and dear nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by one sister, Laura Eiler.
Jo Ann was a registered nurse for 40 years and worked as a house administrator at Pattie A. Clay Hospital in Richmond and St. Joseph Hospital in Lexington, where she retired January 1, 2000. She was a kind, compassionate person who loved her profession. She loved life and her family, especially spending time with her granddaughters. She was a member of Porter Memorial Baptist Church.
Funeral arrangement will be held at Milward-Man O' War, in Lexington, on Saturday, February 24, 2018: Funeral at 3 p.m., with visitation beginning at 1 p.m. Burial will follow at Bluegrass Memorial Gardens, in Nicholasville. The family expresses appreciation to the staff of Central Baptist Hospital for their compassion and care. Special thanks are extended to Dr. Charles Papp, Dr. John Meek, and Tonya Hatfield, ARNP.
