John B. "Mutt" Howard, 88, of Richmond, passed away Tuesday, April 18, 2017, at his home.
Born June 24, 1928, at Valley View, Kentucky, in Madison County, he was the son of John H. and Ida Lackey Howard, both of whom preceded him in death. Mr. Howard was a retired Mill Wright and a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge for more than 70 years and was an avid fisherman his entire life. He was a member of Madison Hills Christian Church and of the Old School Custom Car Club.
Survivors include: his loving wife, Betty Jean Lowery Howard of Richmond; three sons, Daniel Wayne Howard (Deborah), Dale Edward Howard (Sherry) and Dean Stewart Howard (Jewel), all of Lexington; seven grandchildren, Amanda Evans, Kyle Howard, Jordan Howard (Shawna), Ashley Combs (Lucas), Brooke Vaughn (Mikel), Jacob Howard and Hayden Howard; great-grandchildren, Zac Jinez, Adriana Jinez, Emmett Combs, Payton Evans, Elliott Combs, Connor Howard, Ezra Combs and Eisley Combs; and his special caregivers who allowed him to live his life out fully at home.
Funeral service for Mr. Howard will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 22, 2017, at Oldham, Roberts & Powell Funeral Home, with Rev. Martin Frazer officiating. Burial will follow in the Richmond Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Grandsons and grandsons-in-law will serve as pallbearers.
