Mrs. Juanita Mae Smith, 76, of Berea, passed away Tuesday, December 13, 2016, at Baptist Health - Richmond.
Mrs. Smith, the daughter of Joe Smith and Rettie Stewart Smith, was born in Jackson County on December 25, 1939. Her greatest joys in life were being a homemaker and loving wife, mother and grandmother. Friends knew her as a trusted counselor. She was also very fond of her cat "Diddy Dat," as Mrs. Smith affectionately called him. She was a member of Dixie Park Cornerstone Baptist Church.
On January 10, 1959, she was united in marriage to Rev. Hubert Gene Smith who survives.
Other survivors include: two daughters, Regina Gail Lynch and husband Dave of Danville and Pamela K. Hisle of Richmond; two sisters, Christine Centers of Berea and Barbara Jean Moberly of Kirksville; two grandchildren, Timothy W. Hackworth and wife Mary and Gary Lee Hisle and wife Amanda; two step great-grandchildren, Billy Bunch and Hannah Bunch and one on the way; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Funeral service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday, December 15, 2016, at Dixie Park Cornerstone Baptist Church, 700 N. Powell Ave, Berea with Rev. Bradley Johns, Rev. Joe VanWinkle and Rev. Butch Pennington officiating. Burial will follow in the Madison Co. Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be after 11 a.m. Thursday at the church.
Pallbearers will be Donald Anglin, Mackie Lamb, Harold Cole, Carl Neeley, Ricky Gaines and Cecil Vance.
