Mrs. Julia Merrifield Hinkle, 99, entered eternal rest, Saturday, December 30, 2017.
Mrs. Hinkle was born on August 31, 1918, in Bloomfield, Kentucky, the daughter of the late J. D. and Etta Wilkinson Merrifield. She graduated from the Nazareth Academy in Bardstown, and attended the University of Kentucky. She was a member of The Saint Mark Catholic Church, since 1938. She was a homemaker, loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was the widow of J.T. Hinkle, who preceded her in death in 1994.
Survivors include: one son, James M. Hinkle and his wife Peggy; five grandchildren, Julia Moore-Corsi, Christina B. Hinkle, Joseph R. Hinkle, James S. Hinkle and John Robert Moore; one great-granddaughter, Sara Gossman; two great-nieces, Betty Leachman Howell and Julia Leachman Sanchez; and a great-nephew, Dawson Leachman.
In addition to her husband and her parents, she was preceded in death by: a daughter, Marilyn Hinkle Moore, her son-in-law, James W. Moore; one sister, Betty Merrifield Williams; her brother, Alexander Merrifield; and a niece, Carolyn Williams Leachman.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday, January 5, 2018, at The Saint Mark Catholic Church, with Reverend Father Tom Farrell officiating. Burial will follow in the Richmond Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 4-8 p.m. Thursday evening, January 4, at the Combs, Parsons & Collins Funeral Home, 328 West Main Street.
Serving as pallbearers are: Paul Fagan, Steve Howell, Colton Howell, Dalton Howell, Donald Grant, Selby Wiggins and Shannon Combs.
The family request that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to: St. Mark Catholic Church, 608 West Main Street, Richmond or The Hospice Compassionate Care Center, 305 Isaacs Lane, Richmond, KY 40475.
