Karen M. Woolum, 71, passed away on Friday, June 23, 2017, in Naples, Florida.
Karen was born on November 10, 1945, in Richmond, and was the daughter of Lee Taylor McKinney and Virginia Adams Rose, both of whom preceded her in death. She was a retired banker and a member of White Oak Pond Christian Church. She enjoyed spending time with her son and grandchildren, time on the beach, theatre, listening to Motown music, playing racquetball, and playing softball with her team the Roadies. Most importantly, she most enjoyed following her son, Kris, around the state as he played many sports. Karen was an avid volunteer with Habitat for Humanity and Feed the Children.
Survivors include: one son, Kris Woolum (Janice), of Lexington; three grandchildren, Kaden Woolum, Rydge Woolum, and Carson Woolum; a special family friend, Linda Fagan; six cousins, Tad Adams (Tami), Lynn Adams, George Forbes (Phyllis), Doug Adams, Chip Adams, and Joi Lee Scoates (Wes).
Funeral service will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, June 29, 2017, at White Oak Pond Christian Church with the Rev. Dr. Russell Rechenbach officiating. Burial will follow in the Richmond Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service on Thursday at the church.
Pallbearers will be Tyler Sanslow, Brandon Sanslow, Brent Wehunt, Jerry Crockett, Michael Fagan, and Shawn Woolum.
Oldham, Roberts & Powell Funeral Home is conducting the services.
Donations are suggested to the White Oak Church Building Fund in lieu of flowers.
