Mr. Leslie Elwood Tracy, 84, of Richmond, passed away on Wednesday, September 4, 2019, at the VA Medical Center in Lexington.
Mr. Tracy was born in the Doylesville community of Madison County on August 2, 1935 to the late John and Ida B. White Tracy. As a young man Elwood enjoyed playing baseball and was part of the team that won the 1960 Wades Mill Championship - he later tried out for the Chicago White Soxs and sports was always an important part of his life. Elwood joined the US Army and was stationed stateside to train MP's for the Vietnam War. After his term of service was over, Elwood went to work in the Tool and Die business and worked for various companies including Robinson Tool & Die, and Continental Metal (CMS) as a supervisor before his retirement. Elwood was a big time UK Basketball fan, but most of all, he enjoyed watching, coaching and just being part of any sports his kids and especially his grandkids were playing. He was a member of the Red House United Methodist Church.
On June 25, 1965 he married Beverly Sparks and together they enjoyed over 53 years of marriage before she passed away in October of 2018.
Survivors include: his children, Spencer Tracy (Gretchen), and Gail Edwards (Benny Ray); four grandchildren, Reece Edwards, Riley Edwards, Sydney Tracy and Reagan Tracy; as well as a host of other extended family and friends.
In addition to his parents, and wife, Elwood was preceded in death by: 5 brothers, Owen Tracy, R.C. Tracy, Wilburn Tracy, Robert Earl Tracy, and Willie Marshall Tracy; and 2 sisters, Ona Wells, and Mabel Johnson.
Funeral Services will be conducted at 1:30 PM Saturday, September 7, 2019, at the Combs, Parsons & Collins Funeral Home, W. Main St., Richmond, with Rev. Randy Barnett officiating. Burial will follow in the Richmond Cemetery.
Visitation will be after 11AM Saturday, at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be: Robert Cruse, Chad Cain, Steven Fletcher, Jasper Pearson, Russ Tracy and Dr. Rick Blum.
Honorary Pallbearers will be: P.J. Mays, Nathan Blum, Michael Hamilton, and Jerry Sparks.

Elwood was a special person, one of the best supervisors I ever had. Worked with him at CMS.
