Mrs. Lorene Sparks Adams, 93, of Richmond, passed away Friday, February 2, 2018 at the Compassionate Care Center.
Mrs. Adams, the daughter of Johnnie Sparks and Ida Mae Horn Sparks, was born in Estill County on July 21, 1924. She was Co-Owner of Adams Furniture Store. Her greatest joys in life included playing the piano, gardening, caring for her birds and especially all of her grandchildren. She was a member of Old Paris Road Church of God where she had served as pianist.
On June 14, 1941, Mrs. Adams united in marriage to Carl T. Adams who preceded her in death on December 24, 2000.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law: Charlotte Faye and Mitchell Durham of Richmond; her brother: David Sparks; seven grandchildren: Lori Eve and husband Scott, Kari Maloney and husband Steve, Lindsey Wagner and husband Chris, Bethany Estes and husband Chad, Dean Adams and wife Erika, Jimmy Adams and wife Ashley and Ben Durham, five great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Adams was also preceded in death by two sons: Darrell Adams and Paul Adams; five brothers: George, J.D., Raymond, Tracey and Amos Sparks and three sisters: Mildavine Spicer, Zella McIntosh and Virginia Neal-Phillips.
Funeral Services will be conducted at 1:30 P.M. Tuesday, February 6, 2018 at Combs, Parsons & Collins Funeral Home with Rev. Jack E. Whitaker and Rev. Cournel "Butch" Payne officiating. Burial will follow in the Richmond Cemetery.
Visitation will begin at 11:30 A.M. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Chad Estes, Ben Durham, Dean Sparks, Jeff Crockett, Barry Puckett and Mitchell Durham.
