Martha Smith Conaway, 90, of Richmond, KY, the wife of Arthur Clarence Conaway, passed away Thursday, November 16, 2017 at Fountain Circle Care and Rehab in Winchester, KY.
Martha was born April 8, 1927 in Saugerties, NY to the late Frederick Bentley and Agnus Shook Smith. She retired from E.K.U. with tenure, later she taught at the E.K.U. campus in Corbin, KY, She taught four different languages which included English, German, Japanese and French. Martha was also an active member of the Daughters of the King Episcopal Church, where she played the organ. She also played the piano and dulcimer; she was a very rounded individual with a wealth of knowledge.
Other than her husband Arthur, she is survived by a daughter Bonnie Louise Conaway (Kenneth) Mullins of Prestonsburg, KY; three brothers, John Smith, George Smith, and Bud Smith; four grandchildren, Scotty Ray Mullins, Emily Caudill, Lydia Conaway Sanford and Fredrick Bentley Conway; as well as three great granddaughters, Kayanna Louise Mullins, Morgan Rose Caudill and Jordan Leigh Caudill.
Martha was preceded in death by a son Fredrick Arthur Conaway.
Funeral services will be 12:00 PM Wednesday, November 29, 2017 at the Episcopal Church of Our Savior. Visitation will be from 10:00 A.M until service time at the church.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Fountain Circle Care and Rehab in Winchester, KY or to the Our Savior Episcopal Church in Richmond, KY.
