Mary Virginia (Brandenburgh) Broomfield, 89, the widow of Maurice Broomfield, of Richmond, passed away Thursday, February 1, 2018 at Madison Health & Rehabilitation of Richmond.
Born, August 25, 1928, in Hamilton, Ohio, she was the daughter of Cecil and Lillian Ray Brandenburgh, both of who preceded her in death. She spent her early childhood in Owsley County before moving to Richmond with her family. Mary attended Madison High School and had worked at Westinghouse, the Kroger Company, before retiring as a cashier, after 18 years with Winn-Dixie of Richmond. While in good health she was a faithful member of Broadway Baptist Church and enjoyed attending Union City Christian Church.
Survivors include, one son, Danny Broomfield (Lynn) and one daughter, Nancy Kay Newnam (Rick) of Richmond; four grandchildren, Dana Broomfield Duerson (Jake) of Berea; Kelly Newnam Chumley (David) of Lexington, Eric Broomfield (Ashley) of Nashville, TN and Randy Newnam (Amanda) of Columbus, Ohio; seven great grandchildren, Mallory and Cami Ann Duerson, Braden and Emma Broomfield, Tyler and Mason Chumley, and Summer Newnam; and several nieces and nephews and a special friend of many years, Connie Jones.
Mary was also preceded in death by one brother, Ray Brandenburgh and three sisters, Ellen VanWinkle, Pauline Clark, and Geneva Peters.
Funeral service for Mary Broomfield will be held at 7:00 PM Monday, February 5, 2018, at Oldham, Roberts & Powell Funeral Home, with Rev. Chip Denief officiating. Visitation will be from 5 PM until service time on Monday at the Oldham, Roberts & Powell.
Family Graveside service will follow on Tuesday, at Madison County Memorial Gardens.
The family would like to express their gratitude to the Hospice staff and the entire staff of Madison Health and Rehab for their heart-felt care for Mary and their support for the family.
