Monique Braeckmans Turner, born January 5, 1929 in Brussels, Belgium, departed this life on Friday, March 3, 2017, surrounded by family at St. Joseph Hospital in Lexington. She was 88 years old. Monique was the daughter of Achile and Janine Braeckmans. She met her husband during World War II and came to America by ship.
Monique started her life and family in Hyden, Kentucky. In 1967, she moved to Richmond with her four children: Gene, Roy, Charlotte and Christine. Monique worked and retired from the Bluegrass Army Depot. She enjoyed traveling and being with family and friends.
Monique is survived by: her four children, Gene Turner and wife Jan of Rocklin, Calif., Roy Turner and wife Marcia of Waco, Charlotte Hill and husband Donald and Christine Turner-Boggs, all of Richmond; three grandchildren, Brian Hill and wife Erica, Traci Boggs Curry and Kevin Turner, as well as, her seven great grandchildren.
Funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, March 10, 2017, at Combs, Parsons and Collins Funeral Home with Rev. Owen Moody officiating. Burial will follow in Madison County Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Kevin Turner, Cordell Hill, John David Turner, Mitchell Stone and Isaac Turner. www.cpcfh.com
