Monte Taylor White, 80, widower of Marjorie Farris White, died Thursday, May 11, 2017, at Madison Health & Rehab in Richmond. Mr. White was born May 22, 1936, in Berea to the late Walker and Glendon Reynolds White.
Monte was an employee at the old Sinclair filling station in his youth, was retired from Square D in Lexington, and a U.S. Army Veteran. He was an avid fisherman (a passion he shared with his wife), hunter, and birder; Monte was also well known for his love for and knowledge of classic cars, enthusiastically raising chickens, and making exceptional barbeque sauce. Monte was a member of First Baptist Church of Berea at Middletown.
Other than his wife and parents, he was also preceded in death by two brothers, Walker White, Jr., and George White.
Monte is survived by: his children, Yvonne "Peaches" (Chris) Parks of Richmond, Marsha Marie White of Louisville, Marc Anthony White and Marvin McKinley White, both of Richmond; a brother, Ken (Faye) White of Berea; five sisters, Elizabeth Denny, Juanita (Lucian) Hughley, Lois Rice, all of Berea, Shirley (Jack) Jackson of Dayton, Ohio, Jackie (John S. Jr.) Walker, of Berea; four grandchildren, Shon, David, Derrick, and Whitney Parks, all of Richmond; and three great grandchildren, Tayson Parks, Demari Parks, and Jaron Campbell, all of Richmond. Many nieces, nephews and friends also survive.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 16, 2017, at Davis & Powell Funeral Home with Rev. Thomas Ferrell Farris officiating. Burial will follow in the Madison County Memorial Gardens, Mark White, David Parks, Shon Parks, Tayson Parks, and Greg Kennedy will serve as Pallbearers. Visitation will be Monday, May 15, 2017, from 5-9 p.m. at the funeral home.
