Orval's Story

Mr. Orval Miller Reid, 95, better known as Sonny, passed away on Saturday, January 27, 2018, at his home.
He was born in the Red House community of Madison County on July 5, 1922 to the late Orval Reid and Betty Embry Reid Todd. Mr. Reid was a very talented mechanic and sheet metal worker who could do anything he set his mind to. He was a pilot and owned his own plane for awhile. Mr. Reid also enjoyed rebuilding cars, hunting and fishing. He was a member of the Union City Masonic Lodge as well as the Red House Baptist Church.
He is survived by: his wife of 72 years, Nannie Rhodus Reid; two sons, Eddie Reid (Deborah), and Billy Reid; three grandchildren, Damond, Victoria, and Grant Reid; as well as many extended family and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by: his daughter, Betsy Reid Spickard Roark; one grandson, Addam Spickard; his brother, Wayne Reid; and his step-father, Talbott Todd.
The family will receive family and friends for a time of visitation from 6-9 PM Tuesday, January 30, 2018, at the Combs, Parsons & Collins Funeral Home.
A private family graveside service will be conducted at the Madison County Memorial Gardens.
