Pamela Gail McGaughey Smith, 55, of Richmond, the wife of William B. Smith, passed away Sunday evening, May 21, 2017, at the UK Chandler Medical Center in Lexington.
Pam was born on March 14, 1962, in Frankfort, Kentucky, daughter of the late Carl and Oneta Wells McGaughey. She was a sign language interpreter and DHH instructor for the Fayette County School System. Being NIC Certified, she had received her National Interpreter Certification, and in addition, had received her Advanced Certification from The Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf. She was a member of the The Church of Jesus Christ of Later-day Saints-Richmond Ward.
She is survived by: her husband, William; two sons, Nicholas Wayne Smith and Andrew James Smith; two sisters, Donna Wade (Dave) of American Fort, Utah, and Carla Arnold (Ben Schrader) of Frankfort; one brother, Steve McGaughey (Beckie) of Frankfort; her father and mother-in-law, Bill and Jean Smith; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, May 26, 2017, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Later-day Saints, 201 South Keeneland Drive, Richmond, KY.
The family will receive friends and relatives from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday evening at the church.
Pallbearers are: Robert McCool, Nolan McGaughey, Paul Green, Shannon Cooley, Charlie Fisher and Bradley McGaughey.
Honorary Pallbearers are: Gordon Brandenburg and Matt Guerra.
Memorial Contributions may be made to The American Cancer Society, The American Heart Association or Madison County Relay for Life.
