Rebecca's Story

Rebecca Elizabeth Creech Gibbs, 86, of Richmond, passed away Tuesday morning, January 10, 2017, at her home.
She was born in Madison County on October 24, 1930, the daughter of the late Dan B. and Ruby Kidd Creech. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She was faithful to her Lord, and was a member of The Linden Street Baptist Church. She was retired from Westinghouse Corporation.
Survivors include: husband of 67 years, Sherman Gibbs; one son, Douglas Gibbs; one daughter, Anna Coleman (David); four grandchildren, Shauna Hopper (Kenny), Michael Gibbs, Alicia Alvarado (Richard) and Christen Coleman (Brian); five great-grandchildren, J.D. Hopper, Courtney Gibbs, Charlie Day, Charlotte Lawson and Lilly Lawson; and a host of other relatives and friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by: a brother, Arch Creech; two sisters, Margaret Burdine and Emma Harmon; and a great-granddaughter, Isabelle Alvarado.
Funeral service 1 p.m. Friday, January 13, 2017, at the Combs, Parsons & Collins Funeral Home with Rev. Gene Smith and Rev. Michael Barnes officiating. Burial will follow at Madison Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends and relatives beginning at 11 a.m. Friday morning at the funeral home.
Pallbearers are: Doug Gibbs, Michael Gibbs, Kenny Hopper, Richard Alvarado, David Coleman and Brian Lawson.
Honorary Pallbearers are: Suzy and Bill Todd, Sidney Rawlins, Kyle "Spud" Sowers and Bob Brock.
Donations may be made to Hospice Care Plus, 208 Kidd Drive, Berea, Kentucky 40403.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to all the home home health and hospice staff who helped with her care.
