Dateline: Richmond, Kentucky

Rev. Neal Prather, age 86, a native of Madison County, Kentucky and pastor for over 40 years, departed this life on September 4, 2019 at Baptist Health in Lexington.

Neal was born on November 19, 1932 to the late Taylor and Ruby Bowlin Prather. He was a graduate Andersonville Baptist Seminary in Camilla, Georgia where he received his Bachelors, Masters and Doctorate in Theology. He was member of the Hays Fork Baptist Church in Kingston, KY, and a veteran of the US Army having served during the Korean Conflict.

Rev. Prather is survived by his wife, Mary Chamberlain Prather, his son, Patrick O'Neal Prather of Richmond, KY, a daughter, June Barker (Robert) of Tallahassee, FL and a step-sister, Alene Kerns. He is also survived by grandchildren; Don Paul Cowart (Jennifer) of PA, Jennifer LeAnn Prather and Taylor O'Neal Prather (Lisa), great-grandchildren; Charlie, Breanna, Logan, Preston and Jonathan.

Funeral services for Rev. Prather will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday September 10, 2019 at the Oldham, Roberts & Powell Funeral Home with Rev. Sam Smith officiating. Burial will follow in the Richmond Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be his Sunday School Class at Hays Fork Baptist Church. Honorary pallbearers will be layman of Hays Fork Baptist Church.

Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Monday, September 9, 2019 at Oldham, Roberts & Powell Funeral Home.

In Lieu of flowers donations suggested to Hays Fork Baptist Church Building Fund.
