Bobby was born on February 5, 1970, to Robert and Virginia (Persinger) McLaughlin in Denver, Colorado. He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his son, Rosin McLaughlin, sister Robin McLaughlin and her two sons Linwood and Anthony McLaughlin, former wife Mandy McElwee, and stepson, Jeffrey R. Heiner Jr. (Amber), all of Richmond. Bobby is also survived by a large extended family, his lifelong best friend, Russell Fox, and many friends.
Bobby loved rodeo and started competing in the National Little Britches Rodeo Association at a young age. He was two-time National Champion in saddle bronc as well as a runner-up World Champion.
Bobby graduated from John F. Kennedy High School in Denver, Colorado, but they didn't have a rodeo team, so he rode for Columbine High School, in Littleton, Colorado.
He competed in saddle bronc, bareback, and bull riding. All thru high school, he qualified in national finals in all 3 events. He won numerous "All-Around Cowboy" titles where he won in 2 or more events.
After high school, he competed on the Colorado Pro Rodeo Association, Pro Rodeo Cowboy Association, and International Pro Rodeo Association circuits.
