Ronnell Jean "R. J." Sanders, 75, of Richmond, passed away Tuesday, March 14, 2017 at the Hospice Compassionate Care Center of Richmond.
He was born April 12, 1941, in Richmond to the late William Oscar and Florine Howard Sanders. R.J. was a retired owner and operator of Sanders Trucking and he served in the Kentucky National Guard for seven years.
Survivors include: his loving wife, Carolyn Ann Taylor Sanders of Richmond; one daughter, Rhonda Carol (Don E.) Hale of Richmond; four sisters, Jelemia Julia Sanders of Richmond, Loretta (Lowell) Hall of Waco, Lutricia Lane Dice and Billie Faye (Chencho) Garcia both of Mt. Sterling; grandchildren, Patrick Ryan Hale, Kristin Nicole Hale and Laura Elizabeth Hale, all of Richmond, and Sarah Jane (Maxwell) Wright of Jacksonville, Fla; numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Lisa Ann Stockdale, one son, Gregory Scott Sanders, and two brothers, Wendell Earl Sanders and James Edwin Sanders.
Per R.J.'s request, he will be cremated and the graveside service will be held at a later date. Oldham, Roberts & Powell Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
