Ruth Masters Chandler, 96, the widow of Carl Chandler, passed away Tuesday afternoon, May 23, 2017, at The Terrace in Berea.
A former resident of Newby, Ruth was born in Madison County on September 30, 1920, to the late Joseph Henry and Zeffie M. Perkins Masters. She was a homemaker and was a member of The Newby Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her siblings, Forest Masters, Garnett Masters, Sue Cates, Ether B. Lackey, Robert M. "Scrub" Masters, Edna Clark and William C. "Duff" Masters. In addition, she was preceded in death by: her nephews, Ralph Masters, Shelby Joe Masters and Carson Masters; and nieces, Norvaline Hale, Henrietta Moberly, Roberta Prewitt and Patricia Broaddus.
Survivors include: a nephew, Gary Clark (Sharon), and nieces, Helen Thompson, Brenda Fowler (Kenneth) and Joan Gray (Broaddus) as well as several great nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, September 27, 2017, at the Combs, Parsons & Collins Funeral Home with Bro. Scott Guiley officiating. Burial will follow in the Richmond Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Friday evening at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Terry Gortney, Joe Masters, Mike Masters, Michael Chandler, Jack Newland, Danny Allen, Larry Prewitt and David Prewitt.
