Events

Spec. Ryan Dennis-Orin Riley, 22, formerly of Richmond, Kentucky, passed away Saturday, April 20, 2019, in the Ninawa province of Iraq in a non-combat related incident, according to the Department of Defense announcement.
Born May 31, 1996, Camp Lejeune, North Carolina, he was the son of Rosemary Ann Ross-Wallace Fields and Shawn Dean Riley. Ryan enjoyed video gaming as a pass time.
He was assigned to 2nd Battalion, 32nd Field Artillery Regiment, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) out of Fort Campbell, Kentucky.
Riley enlisted in the service in October 2016, and served at Camp Casey, South Korea from March 2017 to March 2018 at which time he was PCS to Fort Campbell. He was promoted to the rank of Specialist E4 13-J, Military - Fire Control Specialist in October 2018 and arrived in Iraq in December.
Riley was a 13J fire control specialist on his first deployment to Iraq in support of Operation Inherent Resolve, Lt. Col. Martin L. O'Donnell, spokesman for the 101st Airborne, said on Sunday.
Riley was preceded in death by his grandfather, George William Wallace Jr., his grandmother, Amy Mary Ross, and two uncles, George W. Wallace III (Diana) and Thomas L. Wallace.
In addition to his mother and father, other survivors include: a grandfather, Dennis Clymer of California; his brothers, Shane Riley of Mililani, HI, Thomas (Patricia) Williams of NH, Shawn Riley Jr.; his sister, Amy Sullivan (Mark), Richmond, KY; his nephews, Tristian Williams & Lain Sullivan; his nieces, Cat Williams & Ava Ripberger; six aunts & uncles, Robert J. Wallace (Amy), Deborah J. Snapp, Richard K. Wallace (Kathy), Jacklynn Wallace (Gary), Mildred V. Phillips (Richard), and Denise Riley.
Funeral service for Spec. Riley will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, May 6, 2019, at the Richmond Church of Christ, Lancaster Road, Richmond, KY, with Bro. Mike Johnson officiating. Burial will follow, with full military honors, at Madison County Memorial Gardens in Richmond.
Visitation will be from 6 - 8 p.m. on Sunday, May 5, at the church.
Oldham, Roberts & Powell Funeral Home is in charge of services.

I don't know you, per se, but I appreciate the time and sacrifice you made. My youngest son is also a 13J out of Ft. Wainwright, AK. You sound a lot like him. He too will be going to Iraq later this year to take over for the soldiers from Ft. Campbell. My oldest son works at Ft. Campbell. He served there as well before retiring the same year my youngest went in.
While there is nothing I can do or say to make things better for your family, I hope that you know you were loved and respected. Your life mattered and still matters to many.
