Sarah Moore Peavley


Sarah Moore Peavley, 89, of Richmond, the widow of James Elmo Peavley, passed away Sunday, January 27, 2019, after arrival at Baptist Health Richmond.

Mrs. Peavley was born June 5, 1929, at Verda, Kentucky, in Harlan County, to Arnold and Janey Marie Turner Moore, both of whom preceded her in death. She worked as a hairdresser for several years but most of her life she was a homemaker. She was a member of the Kavanaughs Homemakers, the Birthday Girls and served as past president of the Wally Byam International Air Stream Club. She was an avid square dancer and a member of the Viney Fork Baptist Church.

She was also preceded in death by one daughter, Diane Peavley and one sister, Berta Lou Moore.

Survivors include one son, James Leslie Jimmy Peavley (Jan Clay) of Richmond one sister, Ann Elkins (Bobby) of Richmond; one granddaughter, Leslie Jean Marie Hamilton (Ray); and three great-grandchildren, Paisley, Aria and Liberty.

Visitation will be from 4 6 PM followed by a memorial service at 6:00 PM on Friday January 28, 2019 at Oldham, Roberts & Powell Funeral Home, with Bro. Harry Hoover officiating.
