Mrs. Virginia Brandenburg Jones, 93, of Richmond, passed away on Thursday, February 1, 2018 at the UK Chandler Medical Center in Lexington after a brief illness.
Born in Madison County on April 20, 1924, she was the daughter of the late Chess and Pearl Caywood Brandenburg. She was a retired Administrative Assistant at the Bluegrass Army Depot, where she was a dedicated employee in the security office for 29 years. Mrs. Jones was a member of the First Christian Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, Hugh Boyd Jones. Survivors include: her daughters, Ann Boyd Jones, and Martha Jane Cobb (Richard IV); two grandchildren, Jillian Jane Fichetola (Joe) and Richard Cobb V (Amanda); five great-grandchildren, Clay Fichetola, Luke Fichetola, Keri Fichetola, Richard Cobb VI, and Lincoln Cobb; one brother-in-law, Bernard Jones, Jr.; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Funeral Service will be conducted at 11 a.m., Tuesday, February 6, 2018, at First Christian Church, 412 West Main Street, with Rev. Mark Condrey and Dr. Glen Birkett officiating. Burial will follow in the Richmond Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. on Monday at the church.
Pallbearers will be: Richard Cobb V, Joseph Michael Fichetola, Don Appleman, Thomas Rice, Greg Howell and Pete Cain.
Honorary Pallbearers will be: Jimmy Griggs, Ronald Ginter, Omer Russell Gabbard, William G. Turpin, Jimmy Cornelison and Scott Elkins.
Donations in honor of Mrs. Jones can be made to the First Christian Church Building Fund.
Combs, Parsons & Collins Funeral Home, W. Main St., Richmond, is in charge of the arrangements.
