Wanda's Story

Wanda Ann Jones Grubbs, 88, the widow of Gene Grubbs, went to be with the Lord, on Wednesday morning, May 31, 2017.
She was the daughter of Ray and Jewell Menser Jones. She was preceded in death by her husband and parents, as well as one brother, Zane Ray Jones (Founder of Jones Heating and Air) of Berea and Richmond.
She is survived by: two children, her son, Larry Gene Grubbs and wife Jerri; one daughter, Karen Grubbs Heath and husband Larry; six grandchildren, Daniel Gene Grubbs, Ethan Nathaniel Grubbs, Michelle Ann Grubbs, Ariel Heath Barrow and husband Chris, Lauren Elizabeth Heath and Hannah Katelyn Heath; six great-grandchildren, Keely Lynn White, Birdie Lynn Grubbs, Bowie Dean Grubbs, Aubrey Claire Barrow, Sophia Grace Barrow and Blake Christopher Barrow; her sister-in-law, Joyce Jones, and several nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
Mrs. Grubbs was a former member of The Broadway Baptist Church for 50 years, where she served as a Sunday School Teacher. She and her husband served for more than 10 years as youth leaders which included the 5th quarter youth gatherings.
Currently, she was a member of The Kirksville Baptist Church, where she served as a teacher and substitute teacher. She was instrumental in getting the new sanctuary built.
She was a homemaker and a retired federal employee, having worked at Blue Grass Army Depot. She was a member of The National Association of Retired Federal Employees and AARP. 
Funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 3, 2017, at Kirksville Baptist Church with Rev. Butch Pennington officiating. Burial will follow in the Richmond Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 6-9 p.m. Friday at the church.
Pallbearers are: David Jones, Steve Jones, Chris Jones, John Nugent, Sammy Hammons and Bobby Noe.
Honorary Pallbearers are: Ed Roark, Keith Roark, Delbert Gilliam, Kelly Grubbs and Ricky Davis.
