Willard Alexander, 82-years-old was born in Madison County, KY on January 6, 1934, and died November 11, 2016, peacefully at his home. He was the son of Bill and Oma Rader Alexander, both deceased. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Mable Alexander, son Willard "Bug" Alexander Jr., and his brother Barney Alexander.
He is survived by his sister Sudie (David) Isaacs of Berea, his son, Bill (Frankie) Alexander of McKee, three daughters, Sandy (Danny) Whittemore, Tina (Lonnie) Abney, and Pennie (Tim) Centers, all of Berea. He is also survived by ten grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and his faithful dog, Jill.
He was an Army Korean War veteran, having served in Korea and Japan. He was a retiree of Nacco Material Handling Group/Hyster of Berea and a self-employed business owner. He owned several small businesses including Alexander's Gas and Grocery and 421 Storage. He was a well-known and respected member of the Big Hill community and was a member of the Galilee Baptist Church.
Funeral service will be 1p.m. Monday, November 14, 2016 at Lakes Funeral Home with Rev. Gene Smith officiating. Burial will follow in the Pilot Knob Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday evening from 6-9 pm at Lakes Funeral Home and Monday morning after 11a.m.
Pallbearers will be his grandsons, Scott Alexander, Jason Abney, Stephen Alexander, Kevin Alexander, Blake Abney, and Ryan Centers. Honorary bearers will be his granddaughters, Angie Durham, Melinda Carter, Samantha Alexander, and Lindsey Centers.
The family request donations may be made to the Hospice Care Plus Home Care of Madison County.
