William Thomas "Bill" Lawson, Sr., 81, of Richmond, passed away Tuesday, August 1, 2017 at Compassionate Care Center.
Mr. Lawson, the son of the late James Lawson and Hester Jones Lawson, was born in Madison County on May 11, 1936. After 36 years, he retired from Teco Mechanical in Lexington. One of his greatest joys was spending time with family and friends. He also attended Richmond House of Prayer.
On July 21, 1956, he united in marriage to Marian Elizabeth Isaacs Lawson who preceded him in death in 2011.
He was survived by: his son, William T. "Tommy" Lawson, Jr. and wife Sandra of Richmond; two daughters, Tammy Marie Morris and husband Earl and Cheryl Lynn Neal and husband James Dwayne, all of Irvine; his sister, LaVern Powell; four grandchildren, Steven Lowe and wife Shae, Wendi Branstetter, Zack Neal and Dylan Neal; three great-grandchildren, Cecilia "Ceci" Hall, Abigail Rice and Baylee Branstetter; his sister-in-law, Iva Lawson and many nieces and nephews.
Mr. Lawson was also preceded in death by his brother, Shelby Lawson.
Funeral service will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Friday, August 4, 2017, at Combs, Parsons & Collins Funeral Home with Rev. Owen Moody officiating. Burial will follow in the Richmond Cemetery.
