Alfred's Story

Bro. Alfred Ray Northern, 77, of Richmond, passed away Tuesday, April 25, 2017, at Berea Health and Rehabilitation Center of Berea, Kentucky.
He was born August 27, 1939, in Madison County to James Oliver and Jessie Young Northern, both of whom preceded him in death. Ray was a member and retired pastor of White Hall Holiness Church where served his Lord and his church for 39 years. Brother Ray also was a retired employee of VR/Wesson. Brother Ray enjoyed playing his guitar and he loved to fish, but most of all loved his church family.
Ray was preceded in death by: his loving wife, Macy Ledford Northern; one brother, Harold Northern; and two sisters, Elizabeth Ellen Baker and Gladys Parrott.
Survivors include: five sons, Daryl Northern (Deborah), Danny Northern, David Northern (Janet), Donnie Northern (Nancy) and Darren Northern (Lisa), all of Madison County; two sisters, Wilma Witt (Dale) and Nancy Evans (Doug); three brothers, James Northern, Gary Northern (Wanda), and Kenneth Wayne "Butch" Northern (Freida); and one sister-in-law, Norvaleen Northern.
He also leaves 11 grandchildren, Jared Northern, Sarah Northern Sears (Derrick), John Northern (Kerensa), Natalie Northern Hedges (Chris), Megan Northern, Kayla Raye Northern, Cindy Northern, Brandon Northern, Bryce Barron, Morgan Barron and Tyler Barron, as well as, 10 great-grandchildren, Maci Northern, Brennan Northern, Rachel Northern, Rebecca Northern, Madison Sears, Luxon Sears, Trenton May, Makayla Hedges, Damian Barron, and Leighton Barron, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral service for Bro. Ray Northern will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, April 28, 2017 at White Hall Holiness Church, with Bro. Elvie Evans, Bro. Charlie Wilson and Bro. Marvin Evans officiating. Burial will follow at Madison County Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be after 5 p.m. Thursday at White Hall Holiness Church.
Pallbearers will be Steve Wrenn, Jarad Northern, Brandon Northern, John Northern, Ernie Northern, and Jeff Marcum.  Honorary bearers will be Jack Pittman, Shirley Revel, Jr. Lamb, J.W. Witt, Walter Marshall, John Davis and Donald Evans.
Oldham, Roberts & Powell Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
