Audrey Margaret Martin, 87, passed away on September 8, 2017 while surrounded by her loving family. She was born on August 23, 1930, in Tyner, Kentucky to the late Mary Reese Wood and Douglas G. Wood, ESQ. She was predeceased by her husband of 42 years of marriage, Lester B. Martin.
Audrey was also preceded in death by her parents, (2) sisters, Elsa Wood and Sylvia W. Mitchell of Connersville, Indiana; (1) brother, Warren Wood of Tyner, Kentucky; and (1) son-in-law, John Bobbitt of Richmond, Kentucky.
She attended Annville High School in Annville, Kentucky, Lees Jr. College in Jackson, Kentucky, and graduated from Eastern Kentucky University with a Bachelors of Science degree in Elementary Education. She taught at Athens Elementary in Fayette County; Lexington, Kentucky.
Audrey enjoyed teaching and took great pride in helping all her students achieve their goals and fulfill their dreams. She was an amazing Mother, Grandmother, Aunt, and person. Anyone who knew her, loved her.
Survivors include: (2) Daughters, Brenda M. Bobbitt of Richmond, Kentucky and Marisa M. Scates of Coral Springs, Florida. (2) Grandchildren, Blake M. Scates and spouse Helena Scates of Silver Spring, Maryland; and Tara S. Rosero and spouse, Carlos Rosero. (2) Great grandchildren; Charles Cristopher and little Audrey Olivia Rosero of Miami, Florida; and Hope Mihert Scates, of Silver Spring, Maryland. (1) Devoted Companion, James Donald May of Richmond, Kentucky; (2) Nephews, Michael B. Mitchell and wife Jeanna of Richmond, Indiana; and David Bolen of Richmond, Kentucky. (4) Special Caregivers, Amanda Saylor, Aubin Whitaker, Christy McPhearson, and Mary Blythe, all of Richmond, Kentucky.
Funeral Arrangements for Audrey W. Martin will be taking place at Oldham Roberts & Powell Funeral Home at 1110 Barnes Mill Road, Richmond, Kentucky. Phone number: 859-623-2422. Visitation will take place on Wednesday, September 13, 2017, from 5:00PM-9:00PM. Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, September 14, 2017, starting at 1:00PM. Burial will at the Richmond Cemetery in Richmond, Kentucky. Pastor Bill Fort will be officiating.
