Eunice Claudine Eickemeyer Thompson, 86, of Richmond, passed away Saturday, November 12, 2016, at the Hospice Compassionate Care Center of Richmond.
She was born in Wausau, Wisconsin, August 16, 1930, to Karl H. and Ella Koschmann Eickemeyer and was the youngest of eight children, all of whom preceded her in death. Eunice received her RN degree from Milwaukee Lutheran Hospital and practiced nursing for a few years before becoming a homemaker and raising her children.
She was married November 2, 1958, to Howard Arthur Thompson following his Navy service. They began their married life in Milwaukee, Wis., and later relocated to several areas associated with his teaching career, including Louisville, Florence, Ala., Tuscaloosa, Ala., Sydney, Australia, Tulsa, Okla., and finally Richmond.
Eunice was a Christian and attended the University Church of Christ in Richmond and the Colby Road Church of Christ in Winchester. She was a loving and devoted wife and mother. She loved hospitality and opened her home to many.
Survivors include her husband, Howard; their children, Julie Phillips (Clyde) of Nashville, Tenn., Peter (Dawn Speer) of Madison, Ind., Betsy Stinson (Steve) of Bowling Green, Ky.; and ten grandchildren, Mason Phillips (Brittney Grant), Kylie Phillips, Barry Phillips, Neal Phillips, Nathan Thompson, Noble Thompson, Katie Thompson, Blake Thompson, Claire Stinson, and Clint Stinson.
Visitation will be at Oldham, Roberts & Powell Funeral Home, Richmond, Kentucky, from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday, November 19, 2016. Funeral to follow at 4 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the Hospice Compassionate Care Center, 350 Isaacs Lane, Richmond, KY 40475.
