James "Jim" Cruse, 82, was born on May 11, 1935, in Rockcastle County, Kentucky, to the late Delbert and Minnie Lamb Cruse. He departed this life on May 31, 2017, surrounded by his loving family.
Bro. Jim was the Pastor of The Irvine Street Holiness Church for 26 plus years. He was also a retired farmer.
He was the devoted husband to Madline Jackson Cruse for 63 years. They were inseparable, only did death, part them. Jim was the dad to 9 children, Joyce Sizemore, Peggy McIntosh (Johnny), Deana Perkins (Elmer), Mary Crutcher (Eugene), Pam Brinegar (Steve), Patricia "T.C." Hoskins (Eddie), Anthony Cruse (Jessica), Robert Cruse (Angela) and Linda Easterling, who preceded him in death. He is also survived by four brothers, Luther Cruse (Ella), Ralph Cruse (Minnie), Fletcher Cruse (Velma) and Floyd Cruse (Rosemary); one sister, Pauline Neal; thirteen grandchildren, several great-grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. Jim also leaves behind a host of extended family members, friends and brothers and sisters in the Lord. Dad, you will be greatly missed. Thank you for all you instilled in your family.
In addition to his parents and a daughter, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Ernest, Charlie and Junior, and a brother-in-law, Vernon Neal.
Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, June 5, 2017, at the Combs, Parsons & Collins Funeral Home with Bro. Fabian Lynch and Bro. Harold Edmonson officiating. Burial will follow at Madison Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be from 6-9 p.m. Saturday evening and 2-6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
His grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
Honorary Pallbearers will be: Kenneth Baker, Ricky Cheeks, Shannon Combs, Bobby Hale, Larry Riddell, Doug Roberts and the members of the Irvine Street Holiness Church.
